After being struck by a car, Sixers forward Kelly Oubre Jr. was hospitalized and would miss “significant” time.
Kelly Oubre Jr., a forward for the Philadelphia 76ers, was hospitalized after being hit by a car, but the NBA team said he was released from the hospital a few hours later.
The 28-year-old Oubre was hit close to his home, as ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski first revealed.
He was taken to a hospital in Philadelphia and was declared stable before being allowed to go home.
According to Wojnarowski, Oubre’s injuries are expected to cause him to miss “significant” time; however, it is not thought that these injuries will end his season.
Now, according to Wojnarowski, local authorities are looking into it.
The 76ers released a statement saying, “Kelly Oubre Jr. was a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle tonight in Center City, Philadelphia.”
He is receiving care at a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition.
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Oubre was hit while out for a stroll close to his house, and although his wounds are not life-threatening, he will be sidelined for some time.
Before the season, Oubre inked a one-year contract with Philadelphia, where he has averThroughout his NBA career, Oubre, who is currently in his ninth season and with his fifth team, has averaged 12.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game.
According to NBC Sports Philadelphia, Oubre stated last week, “I’m just trying to take it day by day, man.”
“I am aware of my intense desire to succeed in this league. Since I obviously had a very stressful summer, I had a lot of pent-up energy for this season.
