The Nuggets’ coach has been with the team since 2015 and led Denver on 5 straight playoff runs.

Michael Malone, the coach of the Denver Nuggets, who guided the team to the NBA championship in 2022–2023 is said to have consented to a contract extension with the organization.

As per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Malone will become one of the highest-paid NBA coaches as a result of the deal.

Since the beginning of the 2015–16 season, Malone has guided the Nuggets, amassing a 375-272 record that includes five consecutive postseason appearances.

In the 2023 NBA Finals, Denver defeated the Miami Heat 4-1 to win the team’s first championship.

Under Malone’s leadership, Denver has only lost in the opening round once.

In addition to his postseason success, Malone is the third-winningest coach in Nuggets history, behind only George Karl (423) and Doug Moe (432). He has been an All-Star coach twice in his career.

With the exception of Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors, Erik Spoelstra of the Miami Heat, and Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs, he has the fourth-longest tenure in the league.

Denver has an 8-2 record this season and is first in the Western Conference.
