Aston Villa has to brace for negative fan reaction when Tim Iroegbunam’s transfer leaving choice is revealed.

Another exciting academy product, Tim Iroegbunam, may be leaving in January, therefore Aston Villa needs to brace for a backlash from the Villa Park faithful.

Journalist John Townley of Birmingham Live (16 November) stated in his Q&A piece that Iroegbunam will probably depart in the winter window; whether this is a loan or a permanent position with a buy-back is still up for debate.

Tim Iroegbunam, another promising academy product, might be going in January, thus Aston Villa will have to prepare for criticism from the Villa Park supporters.

Iroegbunam will likely leave in the winter window, according to journalist John Townley of Birmingham Live (16 November); it is yet unclear if this is a loan or a permanent role with a buy-back.

Townley stated: “We’ll have to see if Iroegbunam is on a loan or a permanent position with a buy-back when he leaves in January. Following his successful season at QPR, there will be no shortage of interest in the midfield player.

Iroegbunam had a significant impact as a member of the matchday squad for the 3-1 victory against Luton Town on October 29 and as a player for the under-21s in the Football League trophy match against Crawley Town, where they lost 3-2 on November 7.

According to SofaScore, the young English player had an incredible game off the ball. He won an incredible 16 duels in his ninety minutes of play, recorded 73 touches, completed 75% of his passes effectively, recorded two crucial passes, successfully finished four dribbles, and won eight fouls.

Iroegbunam may have been preparing for first-team opportunities under Emery after such a showing, but it now seems improbable as the Villa Park jewel is expected to depart with players like Cameron Archer, Aaron Ramsey, and Jaden Philogene.

Fans will be furious at this decision given the number of talent leaving Aston Villa recently, even with buy-back clauses included into each of their deals. Iroegbunam will be the latest to follow.

His only actual senior football experience came from the QPR loan, where he was able to play many interventions each game and hold up to the physical demands of the second tier despite having a 50% ground duel success rate.

Iroegbunam, though, could use some fine-tuning in that area—something that another loan, or perhaps a permanent transfer to the Championship, could supply him—as Emery now favours a progressive possession style at Villa Park.

Now that a decision has been made regarding his immediate future at the club, Aston Villa needs to make sure that his next move would best serve his long-term growth.

Still, it gives the fans a bad taste in their mouths. It’s unfortunate for supporters to see some of the team’s most prominent players depart, as this may cause some friction.
