Chelsea’s striker dilemma
It’s reasonable to say that since Boehly’s initial summer transfer market in 2022, things at Chelsea have been erratic. The fourth head coach that the American owner has hired is already in place.
He fired Graham Potter and Thomas Tuchel during the 2022–2023 season, and Frank Lampard filled in as temporary manager until the completion of the campaign.
Since Tammy Abraham moved for AS Roma in the summer of 2021 for a fee of £34 million, Chelsea has been without a goal-scoring center-forward.
After spending £10 million to acquire Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona in 2022, the Gabon international failed to make a home for himself in west London. I
n July 2023, the former captain of Arsenal departed to join Marseille.
In the meanwhile, Chelsea announced that Christopher Nkunku will join the team from RB Leipzig for £52 million during the summer transfer window of 2023.
Despite this, the French international has not yet made his Blues competitive debut due to a knee ailment. As a result, Nicolas Jackson, a £30 million signing from Villarreal, has been leading the line.
But as 2024 approaches, Chelsea is supposedly trying to bolster their center-forward department even more.
Toney, a Brentford player valued at £100 million by the Bees, is reportedly of interest to Arsenal and the Blues.
In January 2024, the England international with one cap serves his second suspension for breaking gambling laws.
The Napoli center striker Osimhen is apparently being pursued by Chelsea as well.
In the summer transfer window of 2023, Al Hilal, one of the biggest teams in the Saudi Pro League, made a £120 million bid for the Nigerian international.
Nonetheless, the €150 million (£131 million) striker is valued by the Serie A champions.
Additionally, Jacobs disclosed to GIVEMESPORT that if Osimhen does not agree to a new contract with Stadio Diego Armando Maradona before to the summer transfer window of 2024, his asking price may decrease.
