The 27-year-old is seen to be a realistic target for Newcastle in the January transfer window after scoring an amazing 15 goals in just nine Bundesliga appearances this season.
With Eddie Howe facing major injury concerns with Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak, Newcastle will probably be searching even though a midfielder is the priority.
Although both strikers are extremely gifted, it is not possible to expect them to play the entire season without suffering setbacks that put Newcastle in a difficult situation. Wilson is anticipated to miss the next six weeks due to a hamstring ailment, while Isak has missed our previous five games due to a groin injury.
