With a 15–13 victory over Illinois on Saturday, the Iowa Hawkeyes secured the Big Ten West championship.

It was a brutal slog of a game, as Hawkeye fans have come to anticipate, leaving the supporters wondering if victory might be wrested from the jaws of defeat. It did, however, also bring some hope.

The Hawkeyes started the game with another strong offensive half. Although there wasn’t a huge scoring explosion, it was the third half in a row without a three-and-out.

Considering the Hawkeye defense, that is a winning statistic. QB Deacon Hill also reminded us a lot of himself against Rutgers.

Notable Omissions
First up is the previously mentioned Kaleb Brown. Due mostly to Diante Vines’s absence as a starter, his role has grown.

Vines was not listed on the depth chart prior to Friday and missed the game against Illinois last week as well. In addition to playing 62 snaps last week, Brown led the club with 7 receptions for 71 yards. Please do that more often.

There have been no changes behind Brown; however, it is important to note that although walk-on Alec Wick is the current backup, he did not play last week.

Instead, Jacob Bostick, a third stringer, received 13 snaps, which is a season high. He is the tallest player on the WR depth chart at 6’2″, so pay attention to his role in the final weeks. Furthermore
