£47m player has now made up in signing for Newcastle in January
It appears that Newcastle United will not sign Ruben Neves in January for one main reason.
Neves from Al Hilal has been strongly connected to the Magpies as they search for a replacement for Sandro Tonali, who is out until August 2024.
Neves seemed like a nice fit, but a transfer would be quite contentious because PIF owns both Al Hilal and Newcastle.
Premier League teams are expected to vote in favor of a temporary prohibition on clubs loaning players from clubs owned by the same person due to the rumors that caused them anxiety.
Although it would be unfortunate for Newcastle to lose out on signing Neves, a permanent agreement would still be possible.
Newcastle would have to shell out a comparable sum to sign him in January after he joined Al Hilal for £47 million.
That was a possibility, but it isn’t the case anymore.
Al Hilal won’t be losing Ruben Neves in January.
Ruben Neves will not be leaving Al Hilal during the January transfer window, according to the Athletic.
They assert that regardless of the outcome of today’s (November 21st) vote among Premier League members, he will not be joining Newcastle.
According to The Athletic, the 26-year-old is anticipated to stay in Saudi Arabia through the end of the current campaign at the latest.
They go on to say that he is now based in Riyadh and is an important figure there.
A transfer target for Newcastle has changed his mind.
That represents a departure from the earlier reports. Neves was eager to get back to the Premier League because it had been rumored that he had not settled in Saudi Arabia.
He was even rumored to be interested in moving to Newcastle, but that is no longer the case.
