The Premier League has identified seven clubs that have blocked the prohibition on loaning players to other teams.

It has been disclosed which seven Premier League teams were involved in blocking a plan to stop clubs from loaning players to “partner” teams.

According to The Times, Newcastle’s opponents of the amendment were joined by Sheffield United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Everton, Wolves, and Nottingham Forest.

The Magpies will be allowed to loan players from other teams that are also owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) in January as a result of Tuesday’s decision.

It is believed that the remaining 13 elite teams supported the proposal, falling barely short of the necessary minimum of 14 votes to pass it.

Portugal midfielder Ruben Neves, who left Wolves to join Al-Hilal in the summer, has been linked to Newcastle. He may be brought back to England temporarily to fill in for the suspended Sandro Tonali.

Seven clubs voted in favor of the ban, the majority of which are members of multi-club models that profit from the current setup.

The owners of Man City, the City Football Group of Abu Dhabi, are also the owners of Girona in La Liga, Troyes in France, Palermo in Italy, and New York City in Major League Soccer, to mention a few.

The Times added that Sheffield United, who are owned by Saudi prince Abdullah bin Musaid Al Saud, was the target of “particular anger” among the 13 voters who failed.

In their first season back in the Premier League, the Blades have had difficulty scoring points and have only now snapped a long losing streak.
