Tuesday night, Joelinton was sent off for Brazil after pushing Rodrigo De Paul of Argentina in the chest.

Joelinton shoved his opponent during their second-half tussle, causing De Paul to fall dramatically as he held his face.

The Newcastle midfielder was sent off at the Maracana in the 81st minute, despite not seeming to make contact with De Paul’s face.

At the time of the sending off, Argentina was leading 1-0.

Kickoff had to be postponed by thirty minutes due to opposing fans fighting with each other and then with Brazilian police before to the game.

At least one fan was forced to exit the stadium after being hit in the head by police using batons during the very violent altercation.
