Turkey Day football kickoff for the Lions on Thursday will continue a Thanksgiving tradition when they host the Packers.

The jersey patches of the late coach and pundit John Madden will be worn by teams to honor this year’s Thanksgiving Day football games.

Madden is famous for his Thanksgiving Day broadcasts, especially for his tender analysis of the Turducken.

It was initially unclear why the NFL had chosen to recognize Madden on Thanksgiving, but it’s still a lovely gesture.

The jerseys were angled so that Madden’s profile was hard to see when the Lions initially released images of the patch.

If you see Madden right away, good on you. If you just see a jumble of crude gold shapes, rotate the image roughly 45 degrees to the left in your mind and everything should slip into place.

Once you can see it, the patch looks great. But a few people who were quick to react on social media struggled to connect the pieces at first.

The Lions and Packers kick off at 12:30 p.m. ET on Thursday.
