PSG sustains an injury ahead of their Champions League match against Newcastle United.

With the untimely injury to a crucial member of Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle United could have a lift in the Champions League.

During the international break, Warren Zaire-Emery exited the field during France’s 14-0 victory over Gibraltar.

The 17-year-old midfielder left the game early due to an ankle injury while making his debut for his country.

PSG made a statement regarding the player available. It stated that “Warren Zaire-Emery has suffered a moderate sprain of his right ankle and will remain under treatment until the winter break.”

If this timeline is accurate, Zaire-Emery won’t be able to attend the Paris leg of the Newcastle match.

Despite exerting control over their group, PSG was soundly defeated 4-1 by the Magpies at a boisterous St James’ Park.

With 46 outings under his belt for the Parisians, the youthful midfielder has already contributed five assists and four goals. Next March, he will turn eighteen.

This season, he has three assists in the Champions League, one of which came against Newcastle.

Given the level of competition in midfield for France, his call-up to the national team is a credit to his caliber of performance.

Newcastle got off to a great start in the Champions League, winning both their home match against the French champions and their away match against Milan with four points out of a possible six.

But a pair of defeats to Borussia Dortmund had the potential to ruin such promising start to the European competition.

Before Eddie Howe’s team welcomes Milan back to the North East, they still have to play PSG on the road. If they wish to advance, they must have a successful outcome in both games.
