Happy Thanksgiving to Simone Biles: Green Bay Packers win thanks to a touchdown from husband Jonathan Owens.
Move over, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce another NFL power couple is stealing the show. Olympic gymnast Simone Biles was ecstatic when her husband, Jonathan Owens, scored his first NFL touchdown in the Green Bay Packers’ 29-22 victory over the Detroit Lions, who were leading the NFC North, on Thanksgiving.
Packers safety Owens took advantage of a fumble by Lions quarterback Jared Goff in the first quarter to sprint into the touchdown zone. Biles’ appreciation for this crucial occasion was increased on “Turkey Day.”
THATS MY HUSBAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” exclaimed the four-time Olympic gold medalist on X, formerly Twitter, in response to the exhilarating footage of Owens’ touchdown. In a subsequent post, she joyfully added, “A PACKERS WIN BABY!!!!!!!!! Happy Thanksgiving.”
The Packers took an unexpected 20-6 lead against the Lions, who came into the game with a solid 8-2 record for the season, thanks to Owens’ opening touchdown.
After the game, Owens said, “I didn’t believe it; it didn’t feel like real life at first.” “Since high school, I had never been in the end zone before. It was such a nice sensation, man.
Quarterback Jordan Love had another outstanding game after leading the Green Bay Packers to a 23–20 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers the week before. He completed 22 of 32 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns. The Packers’ season record improved to 5-6 thanks to this victory.
Sadly, the Lions’ Thanksgiving struggles continue; since 2016, the team has failed to win on this holiday.
A few months before the gymnastics legend returned to competition after a two-year break, Biles and Owens exchanged vows in April.
When Biles appeared on NBC’s “Today” show earlier this year, she revealed that since being married, the couple has largely dealt with long-distance relationships because they are both ardent fans of their respective sports.
In addition, she stated that she hoped to compete in the future Olympics in Paris in order to maintain her record as the most decorated gymnast of all time.
In an incredible accomplishment last month, Biles became the most decorated gymnast in history—male or female—by winning her 23rd gold medal in a world championship in Belgium.
