As Oklahoma City prepares to play the 10-5 Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday afternoon, guard Isaiah Joe of Thunder might be a key component of the team’s current six-game winning run.

The Thunder would take first place in the West with a 12-4 record and would have had their first seven-game winning streak since 2020 if they win this game at home.

Though freshman Chet Holmgren has been developing into a very excellent contributor, the name you usually hear in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has undoubtedly been leading the hot streak, scoring several 40-point games.

However, these victories are coming from deep down the bench.

Oklahoma City’s depth, led by Joe, Cason Wallace, and Kenrich Williams, is well-established 15 games into the season, and these victories might be equally credited to that and the team’s star power.

Joe now has the opportunity to torch the team he was drafted to in the 76ers — something he has been exceptional at while in his two years with the Thunder.

A season ago, the 6-foot-3 sharpshooting guard did not have the most electric outings against his former team, but they were still quite productive.

In the two contests he saw them, Joe posted a combined 15 points on 2-of-7 from three in 35 minutes.

Looking at his most recent performances during the Thunder’s winning streak, Joe has shot an astounding 77.8% from 3-point distance on 27 attempts in just five contests  including one where he notched a perfect 7-of-7 from distance against the San Antonio Spurs.

His ability to shoot well from long range has helped Oklahoma City rise to the top of the NBA in 3-point shooting %.

Joe has obviously improved this season.

He’s been a huge contributor to the consistency and general flow of this Thunder attack early in the season and should keep doing so as he improves his scoring total, 3-point and field goal percentage.

Jalen Williams will have an even greater chance to showcase that on Saturday afternoon at Paycom Center against Philadelphia as a result of his injury.
