“I Know So Much About That Other Team,” said former Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara.
The former U-M quarterback made it apparent that he is giving it his all to help his new team defeat the Wolverines this coming weekend, even if he will not be participating.
There’s something about it that bothers me; perhaps I’m reading too much into it or overanalyzing it.
In a recent interview, former starting quarterback for Michigan, Cade McNamara, talked about the Hawkeyes and Wolverines’ Big Ten Championship game this coming weekend.
Following his defeat by JJ McCarthy for the starting job in Week 2 of the 2022 season at Ann Arbor, McNamara transferred to Iowa, where he was awarded the starting job in 2023. Sadly, McNamara’s season ended in injury during the fifth game against Michigan State; as a result, he will not be able to play in this weekend’s conference championship game against his old squad.
The former U-M quarterback made it apparent that he is giving it his all to help his new team defeat the Wolverines this coming weekend, even if he will not be participating.
“I think this weekend specifically, I’m not just getting Deacon ready,” McNamara stated. Because I am so familiar with the other squad, I am attempting to obtain as much information as I can on them. From a defensive and attacking perspective, I’m just doing everything within my power as a team to make sure these guys are aware of everything I know.”
At first glance, there seems to be no issue with anything that McNamara stated in this video.
He’s now a member of Iowa Football, no longer with Michigan, and he’s giving his all to help his new club win.
Nevertheless, McNamara didn’t exactly end his time in Ann Arbor well. The former Michigan quarterback made it obvious shortly after he transferred to Iowa that he had disagreements with several aspects of his time at Michigan.
On JJ McCarthy’s QB Battle:
As coach Harbaugh has always maintained, “I was well aware there was going to be competition,” McNamara remarked. He’s always handled it that way, and I’m okay with that.
Then, coach Harbaugh informs the squad that Michigan has two starting quarterbacks and that we will be splitting the games, with me having the first game and him having the second, the day after I am chosen captain. There are conversations going on regarding team matters and other topics that I choose not to get into.
