January proposals for the 25-year-old Liverpool target will not be considered by Aston Villa.
Although there has been much talk about Liverpool’s interest in Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa, it appears that the 25-year-old midfield player may not be joining Anfield anytime soon.
Liverpool and other Premier League teams, including Manchester City and Arsenal, are interested in Luiz, but Aston Villa, who are experiencing a renaissance under manager Unai Emery, are unlikely to accept offers for the player during the January transfer window. 90min claims this (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The importance of Luiz to Aston Villa cannot be overstated. Luiz has developed into a vital member of the Villa Park team since leaving Manchester City, where he never participated in a competitive game.

Villa’s recent success, which included a thrilling victory over Tottenham that vaulted them into the top four of the Premier League rankings, has been greatly attributed to his contributions.
The manager of Villa, Unai Emery, has indicated his wish to keep the Brazilian midfielder on staff and expressed great satisfaction with Luiz’s performances and growth.
Liverpool believes that Luiz is a reasonable target for the team considering their need for midfield reinforcements. The need for a defensive midfielder is particularly great.

Another team chasing Luiz’s signature, Arsenal, is said to have had bids turned down in the past but is still keeping an eye on him.
The Gunners are renowned for their tenacity in pursuing transfer targets, overseen by sporting director Edu and Mikel Arteta.
As of right now, both Aston Villa and Douglas Luiz seem happy with their current situation, suggesting that the player’s future there is assured. Luiz is essential to Emery’s team’s performance.
