All of Eddie Howe’s remarks following PSG’s controversial penalty
Following a hard-fought 1-1 draw with PSG, Newcastle United co-owners Jamie Reuben and Mehrdad Ghodoussi showered their team with plaudits.
At the Parc Des Princes, Kylian Mbappe’s contentious penalty kick ensured that the Magpies would not walk away empty-handed, ruining their hopes of achieving a historic victory.
Even though the video revealed that the ball struck Tino Livramento’s chest before striking the defender’s arm, it was decided that he handled the ball from an Ousmane Dembele cross far into injury time.

EVERYTHING EDDIE HOWE SAID AFTER PSG’S CONTROVERSIAL PENALTY
Newcastle United co-owners Jamie Reuben and Mehrdad Ghodoussi have heaped praise on Eddie Howe’s side after a battling 1-1 draw with PSG.
The Magpies looked to be on course for a historic win at the Parc Des Princes, only for Kylian Mbappe to convert a controversial penalty and ensure a share of the spoils.
Tino Livramento was judged to have handled the ball from an Ousmane Dembele cross deep into injury time, although the replays showed the ball hit his chest prior to hitting the defender’s arm.
Officials originally waved away any appeals, before VAR sent them to the monitor to award a spot kick. PSG’s star man converted from the spot, despite being kept quiet all evening by Kieran Trippier.
The Magpies’ owners took to social media to praise the side at the full-time whistle but were also lost for words.
Ghodoussi shared: “I’m lost for words So proud of our boys….they once again gave everything on that pitch. These boys are special.”
The Magpies owners weren’t the only ones left baffled by the decision to award a penalty with Specsavers also taking aim at the officials and the Champions League.
In response to a post about the Champions League, Specsavers asked Ghodoussi whether he was available for a lengthy and serious conversation.
He answered, “Can you make them an appointment, please?” and Specsavers said that it was.
