Michigan OC Sherrone Moore Snubbed From Major Award
Breaking news:Big 10 drops a huge punishment to 5 players who…..
The Michigan offensive coordinator had a great year with the Wolverines but wasn’t picked to win a big-time award.
Back in 2021, Michigan offensive coordinator Josh Gattis won the Broyles Award which represents the top assistant coach in the nation. The Wolverines have had plenty of finalists throughout the years but Michigan has one just one assistant win the award.
It was beginning to look like the Wolverines were going to get their second Broyles Award winner in 2023. Michigan offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore was a finalist for the award along with four other assistants.
But on Tuesday, the award was announced and it was not coach Moore who won.
Iowa defensive coordinator Phil Parker won the Broyles Award.
Parker is more than deserving of the award. Iowa won 10 games this year and it had next to nothing to do with the Hawkeyes’ offense. Iowa had one of the worst offenses in all of football, but Iowa had one of the best defenses in all of football.
Parker had to face injuries and adversity of his own, but some would argue Sherrone Moore faced plenty of adversity this season and prevailed big time.
Moore, an offensive line coach and the offensive coordinator, was also 4-0 this season as an interim head coach when Jim Harbaugh was faced with two suspensions. Not only did Moore go undefeated, but he beat two top-10 teams while being the head coach at Michigan. He beat Penn State in Happy Valley and then defeated rival Ohio State in Ann Arbor.
The Michigan offensive coordinator has a big future ahead of him and is surely going to garner plenty of interest from other programs to become a head coach in the near future. But first, Moore is going to get the Michigan offense ready to face Alabama in the College Football Playoff.
Here’s what Michigan has done under Moore this season:
