The Cleveland Browns seem to be trying their best to squander away a playoff spot after another loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
While the Browns have assembled the best roster they have had since the original Browns left for Baltimore in 1996, this team can’t seem to figure out how to put a winning formula together.
As of now, the Browns have officially started four different quarterbacks this season and as of today, the fourth quarterback is forcibly removed from the active roster.

The Perpetual Quarterback Nightmare of the Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns offensive struggles will continue after Kevin Stefanski has decided to demote recent addition quarterback Joe Flacco to the practice squad.
The decision was made on Monday evening when Stefanski announced that the quarterback position was up in the air regarding the Week 14 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars elite defensive front.
The move is a bit of a shocker after Flacco played substantially better in his Browns debut than either of his predecessors (rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson or career journeyman P.J. Walker.
Both of these quarterbacks fit the designed Cleveland offense due to the original starting quarterback Deshaun Watson.
The clear advantage of either of these two quarterbacks are that they have dramatic advantages in mobility over the 38-year old pocket passer Flacco.
Joe Flacco’s Performance
The advantage that Flacco has over the other options currently available to Stefanski is that he performed fairly well against the Los Angeles Rams.
Flacco finished the game going 23 of 44 for 254 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the 36-19 loss.
Aside from the stats, the Browns have desperately needed a quarterback with the ability to stretch the field after Watson went down with a should injury in week 6 against the Baltimore Ravens.

The advantage that Flacco has over the other options currently available to Stefanski is that he performed fairly well against the Los Angeles Rams.

The nail in the coffin for Falco was that he made a poor throw that was intercepted by the Rams which helped seal the defeat.
The argument here is that while Flacco made a critical mistake in the aerial attack, he possesses the ability to actually stretch the field against opposing safeties.
Neither of the two inexperienced players have succeeded much in the air and it allows opposing defenses to pack the line of scrimmage against the Browns and their elite run-blocking offensive line.
Flacco addresses his Performance
Flacco was apparently self critical following the loss and still thinks the Browns have the talent to make a run into the playoffs.
“I think you guys have watched these guys all year. They’re a resilient group and they’ve got a lot of talent. It’s one of the more talented teams I’ve been on in a while and you can tell that right away.

“So it’s not easy when you take these long road trips and you come up empty handed and right now we’re not going to be able to reflect too much, but hopefully when we get back in there during the week we can go out and have more good practices and eventually put this thing behind us.”
Flacco played admirably coming in as a reserve player and hopefully will earn another opportunity in the future as the Browns quarterback options grow slimmer and slimmer.
