Barry Ferguson thinks he knows what Celtic will do during the January transfer window, says it’s a ‘certainty’

Barry Ferguson is in no doubt that Celtic will bring in another number nine during the January transfer window.

Kyogo Furuhashi and Hyeongyu Oh are the main strikers who Brendan Rodgers can pick from – with the latter starring against Hibernian last night.

But during the past few weeks, there has been talk building about what Celtic will do in the transfer market.

There have been reports about Estoril star Tiago Araujo, who can operate as a left-sided attacker or left-back, with John Hartson sharing his thoughts.

But Barry Ferguson is certain that another striker will enter the Parkhead building, along with a possible central midfielder, as he told Go Radio.

The latter is perhaps more important than a striker because Celtic fans have seen the issues the team has had without the injured Reo Hatate.

Will Celtic sign a number nine in the January transfer window?
“I think that is a certainty,” said Ferguson. “That has to be the number one area, along with, if you are looking at Celtic, at this moment in time, a central midfielder.

“They were talking about a real powerhouse. I said at the close season that I was surprised that never happened.

“But probably one of the main priorities will be a number nine.”

Hyeongyu Oh takes his Celtic chance
The best thing about the win over Hibs is the fact that the squad showcased its worth and quality.

That will leave a big smile on the face of Rodgers, with Oh possibly making the biggest impact.

It’s not easy playing second fiddle to Kyogo, but his brace against an improving and in-form Hibs side has now given Rodgers a selection headache.

Does Rodgers keep Oh in the XI for the trip to Kilmarnock? Or does he bring Kyogo back in? Or perhaps starting both?
