Why Joe Flacco’s performance for Browns in win over Jaguars was historic
ESPN: Browns QB have set yet another record.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Browns offense had a nice bounce back during Sunday’s win over Jacksonville, with Joe Flacco going off for 311 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
At the conclusion of the win, Flacco became the first Browns quarterback with three touchdown passes of 30 yards or more in a single game since Brian Sipe did it in 1980.

During Sipe’s 1980 season, he won NFL MVP and tied for third in completion percentage (60.8%), finished second in total passing yards (4,132), and tied for second in passing touchdowns (30).
It was also during the season he led the Browns to a AFC divisional playoff game appearance, where the infamous “Red Right 88″ took place, resulting in a 14-12 loss to the Raiders.
While Flacco will not even qualify for league MVP due to lack of games played, it gives a good sign for the direction this offense can go with him at quarterback. Through two games, he’s completed 55.1% of his passes for 565 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions.
