The legendary Alan Shearer of Newcastle United has stated that if he were now in control of the team, he would recruit Ivan Toney.

Despite playing a fierce match against AC Milan, the Magpies were eliminated from the Champions League this week. Eddie Howe’s team needs reinforcements, and Shearer wants his former club to bring Toney back when the January transfer window opens.

A new striker might significantly assist Newcastle United push toward their objectives, and they should be active in the January transfer window.

An excellent forward is Alexander Isak. His performance in the Premier League is impressive, as he has scored seven goals in 12 games.

Newcastle has Callum Wilson as a backup, but even with his skill, they could do better. He hasn’t had the best luck with injuries, and he will turn 32 in February.

Alan Shearer would love to see Newcastle bring Ivan Toney back to the team, and the team should think about adding a new forward during the January transfer window.

On The Rest Is Football podcast, Shearer responded, “I would, if I were in charge of recruitment at Newcastle,” in response to a question regarding the Brentford striker.

He’s a tremendously talented player, in my opinion, and a great alternative. There shouldn’t be any trouble finding a buyer for Ivan Toney because Newcastle needs to strengthen that area and add another option.

If Ivan Toney signs with Newcastle, he will have everything to prove.
Ivan Toney was found guilty of breaking the FA’s betting regulations, and as a result, he is currently prohibited from playing football. In the middle of January, he is permitted to return.

After being sidelined for so long, the £70 million-rated Englishman will undoubtedly be motivated to perform, but a return to St James’ Park will push him even harder.

In the past, Toney was a member of Newcastle United’s roster for three years. Before departing the Magpies in 2018, he played just four senior games for the team.

As a more skilled attacker now, Toney will undoubtedly want to impress everyone at Newcastle if he signs a contract. Additionally, a return to St. James’ Park has been associated with him.
