Aaron Jones, the running back for the Green Bay Packers, is expected to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday despite a knee injury, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This will be Jones’ first game back since he damaged his MCL against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 11, if Schefter’s reporting is accurate. In addition, Jones has already missed three games this season because of a hamstring ailment that first occurred in Week 1 against the Chicago Bears and reappeared in Week 5.
In addition, the Packers made a few more roster changes on Sunday that provide an indication of their plans for the running back position. For the Packers’ game against the Buccaneers, the team raised running back Kenyan Drake and receiver Bo Melton from the practice squad and reinstated cornerback Eric Stokes (hamstring) off the injured list.
If Jones plays, there is no need for Green Bay to need a fourth rushing back in Drake, unless AJ Dillon (thumb) is not expected to participate. Dillon acknowledged earlier this week that he suffered a broken thumb in the closing seconds of the game against the New York Giants.
