Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts: Additional Information About Illness Against Seattle Seahawks
A DNP on the injury report on Saturday was Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who was out of the lineup for Monday night’s game at Lumen Field against the Seattle Seahawks.
Eagles supporters weren’t too concerned about this, given the tenacity Hurts has shown in the NFL. Most athletes just ignore a diagnosis of illness and continue to play.
Hurts’ condition, however, is said to have “worsened” on Saturday night and into Sunday morning.
On Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network revealed some fresh information regarding Hurts’ condition during the previous two days.

Rapoport stated on NFL Network, “Knowing Jalen Hurts and seeing him operate I believe also he is going to play, mainly because he always plays.” However, this is not a cold, nor is it a minor ailment; it’s not even the flu. This is what made him so feeble that at one time he genuinely questioned if he would be able to travel. Again, not the flu, just weakness and a host of other flu-like symptoms to deal with.”
Hurts has continued to play at an MVP caliber this season. In addition to being a beast on the ground with 126 carries for 460 yards and 12 rushing touchdowns, he has completed 286 of 430 passes for 3,192 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

He hasn’t been immune to the team’s problems, though, amid the current two-game losing streak that includes defeats to the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers. Hurts was in a game script that called for a lot of throwing, but even in the loss to Dallas, where the Eagles were behind the entire time, he only completed 18 of 27 passes for 197 yards and no touchdowns.
Though it’s unclear if he’ll play on Monday, if he does, Hurts will try to get over his illness and guide the Eagles in what seems to be a must-win contest.
