Matt Poitras of the Boston Bruins will assist Team Canada in the NHL for the 2024 World Junior Championship.
Don Sweeney, general manager of the Boston Bruins, revealed on Monday that Poitras has been allocated to Team Canada for the competition.
This season, Poitras, 19, has made 27 appearances for Boston, tallying 13 points with five goals and eight assists.
Poitras, who was picked 54th overall in the 2022 selection, will make his world juniors debut in Sweden.
He takes up the slot on Canada’s roster where the management group was expecting he would get NHL assistance.
The only member of Canada’s 2023 gold medal winning team to return is Owen Beck.
