Breaking: Five-star recruit for Georgia football Informally, Dylan Raiola switches to play for Nebraska.
Trade news: Georgia football quarterback commit….

Five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola switched his pledge from Georgia to Nebraska, according to this Sentell Intel representative.
The anticipated event transpired on Monday afternoon. The Carson Beck story was still dominating Georgia football news cycles, but the Bulldogs had lost five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola to Nebraska.
The Cornhusker heritage reversed that course with his formal visitation to Lincoln this past weekend. He had intended to report to Athens that same weekend in order to begin working out for the Bulldogs in the early bowl.
It’s indicative when anything like that occurs the weekend before Wednesday’s early singing period.
Where his father was an All-American center, Raiola will now play. Wherever his uncle Dominic Raiola coaches the offensive line, he will play.
Hayes Fawcett’s social media edit officially announced the announcement.
The five-star quarterback then made an announcement of his own after that edit.
A rhyming poem with stanzas that use the words “gleamed” and “beaming” is included in the social media edit.
He characterizes his flip as “no longer a cog in some powerhouse machine but a quarterback with an even greater ambition unseen” in that post on his X account.
Georgia’s top-ranked class for the 2024 cycle now has 27 commitments as a result of Raiola’s decision. With his signing, he would have become the Bulldogs’ first five-star quarterback to do so since Brock Vandagriff in 2021. Using the transfer site, Vandagriff also departed UGA this month in search of a fresh opportunity at Kentucky in the SEC.
In spite of the defeat, the Bulldogs remain the top class in the country according to the 247Sports Team Composite rankings for 2024.
The most amazing aspect of this recruiting tale was the Raiola family’s summertime relocation to Georgia to prepare for his Georgia career. Because of it, Raiola was able to actively recruit bleachers for practically every UGA home game this season from a front-row position in Georgia’s west end zone.
The 225-pound, 6-foot-3 senior had relocated from Arizona to play for Buford High School in his last year in high school. Considering that he planned to enroll early in Athens this January, that was a sensible choice. Dayton, Raiola’s younger brother, is another bright 2026 quarterback potential.
With Dylan scheduled to play SEC football for the Dawgs, it made sense for the Raiola family to be near them both.
That changed in a hurry over the past ten days. Earlier today, Dominic Raiola, Raiola’s father, told DawgNation how tough the decision was.
That thought occurred to him while responding to a question regarding the nation’s top-ranked quarterback and sixth-best prospect overall’s official visit to Lincoln.
Dominic Raiola, his father, remarked, “It was a great trip.” Clearly, two outstanding, illustrious programs. One is the place where one of those used to be and want to return. It has been an unusual week.
The decision to move from Arizona to finally sign with Nebraska during one’s senior year will be the most memorable aspect of this flip after all is said and done. As part of his recruitment process, Raiola has received decommitments to play for the Cornhuskers from Georgia (December 2023) and Ohio State (December 2022).
Despite the decision, the ‘Dawgs still have one QB prospect in this class ranked in the top 10 and Elite 11. That’s Ryan Puglisi, a 4-star native of Massachusetts. Puglisi boarded a plane on Friday night, traveled to Athens, and this weekend started working out with the Bulldogs.
Sentell’s Intel: The DawgNation articles on 4-star quarterback recruit Ryan Puglisi are a must-read
When Raiola declared his commitment to the Bulldogs, Puglisi had already been a Bulldog for nearly eight months. Even after the 5-star Raiola’s commitment started to wane, his commitment to the “Dawgs” remained unwavering.
After participating in bowl practices, the future UGA passer will depart for Christmas. Expect Puglisi to return to Athens on Christmas Day in order to take the Bulldogs to the Orange Bowl the next day.
After that, on January 6, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound player from the Connecticut private school Avon Old Farms will travel to Texas for the All-American Bowl workouts and game.
Early in January, Puglisi will return to Athens to begin his spring semester enrollment at UGA.
With this choice, the Bulldogs retain the top recruiting class in the country along with three more 5-star recruits: DL Joseph Jonah-Ajonye, LB Justin Williams, and cornerback Ellis Robinson IV.
