Captain Dylan Larkin will start for the Red Wings against the Ducks again.
Detroit — Dylan Larkin, the captain of the Red Wings, will start for the team against Anaheim again on Monday night.
After being taken off the injured list on Sunday and receiving the all-clear from physicians for an undisclosed upper-body injury, Larkin participated in the morning skate on Monday.
On December 9, Mathieu Joseph of Ottawa gave Larkin a crosscheck in the neck and head area. After falling asleep into the ice, Larkin carefully skated to the locker room.
For the past four games, Larkin has not played.
“He got cleared (Sunday) went through a contact skate to see how he’d react, and he got the okay, he’s in (Monday),” Derek Lalonde, the coach, said.
On Monday morning, Lalonde had Larkin centering a line with Patrick Kane and Joe Veleno.
Regarding the various pairings, Lalonde stated, “The lines will be a work in progress.” “There are some moving parts there.”
The Wings receive a much-needed scoring lift with Larkin’s comeback. Larkin, who has one goal in the last two games, enters a lineup that is second on the club with 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists).
Lalonde believes that one of the main benefits of Larkin’s comeback is that it allows players to resume their regular responsibilities instead of feeling as though they must perform additional or different tasks.
In regards to Larkin’s influence and comeback, Lalonde remarked, “It’s a boost, but it slots people correctly.” “I’m not sure if he’ll be performing at his best. You seen it the other night with J.T. (Compher, who made a comeback on Saturday); it helped us because it accurately placed people. But regardless of how long you’re gone, it takes some time to return to NHL speed.

However, it’s good. We’re overjoyed. We anticipated that Monday would be a little aggressive (to return) even after this previous week, but everything turned out well. His return is encouraging for us.”
Lyon current events
Although he did not participate in the morning skate, goalie Alex Lyon was seen moving around the locker room. He will not be available for Wednesday’s game in Winnipeg.
During Sunday’s second period in Philadelphia, Lyon made a save and inadvertently adjusted something. Lyon was replaced by Ville Husso in the Flyers’ 1-0 defeat.
Lyon may need to be placed on injured reserve, but the Wings are unsure. Lyon is confident that he will soon be prepared to return to the ice.
With a “probably sooner than later,” Lyon concluded. “My body is in a pleasant mood. I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to return to the ice shortly. However, I’m feeling rather well.”
Lyon fell to one side once it was decided the play was over. Lyon tried to shield himself, thinking he might have injured something different than what was actually found.
Lyon remarked, “I was lucky that wasn’t the case.” “The main reason was fear. You’re thinking, ‘Oh man, this might be something scary,’ because you know your body and how things feel. But again, I was lucky in that it turned out not to be that.
