Tommy DeVito of the Giants Visits Pizzeria Notwithstanding Sean Stellato’s Fee Conflict
FEARFUL: Tommys agent received a death threat message.
Despite being a rookie in the NFL, Tommy DeVito of the New York Giants is already an adept at damage control.
He went to Consiglio’s Old Fashioned, a pizzeria in New Jersey, on Tuesday night in hopes of picking up some tips.
At first, Consiglio’s claimed that DeVito’s presence was postponed because his agent, Sean Stellato, increased the star’s attendance fee from $10,000 to $20,000.
“We are a small family run business & decided $20,000 was a bit steep for 2 hours,” claimed the eatery. “Apologies to anyone who had already purchased a ticket.”
Stellato asserted in an interview with sports business analyst Darren Rovell that the appearance fee had not been set in stone.
“It’s a shame that the restaurant promoted that they would have Tommy when we didn’t have a signed contract,” stated the representative. “We didn’t raise the price because nothing was ever agreed to.”
However, that wasn’t Consiglio’s final statement on the subject:
For a player like DeVito, the limelight can disappear quickly. He and Stellato have a strong incentive to capitalize on the “Tommy Cutlets” trend as it might not present itself again.
DeVito completed 20 of 34 passes for 177 yards in a 24-6 loss to the New Orleans Saints, so the high may already be fading. With less than 200 throwing yards, it marked his third consecutive start.
The bright side for Consiglio’s Old Fashioned is that, in a few months, it might be far less expensive to get DeVito back on the scene.
