The Auburn Football Roster Tracker for 2024
As usual, keep in mind these two important points:
For the second season of the Hugh Freeze Era, the Tigers’ roster is expected to undergo significant changes. Here is where you can keep tabs on every action.
Auburn football’s 2023 campaign is still ongoing. Next week, the Tigers will find out where they are going bowling.
However, it seems as though the offseason has already begun. Across the SEC and around college football, the coaching carousel is in full swing. Prominent athletes have previously declared their plans to use the transfer portal. And everyone’s eyes are focused on December’s early signing period for recruits.
That means it’s time for The Auburn Observer’s football roster tracker, now in its fourth year.
This site will be updated hundreds of times throughout the course of the upcoming months, documenting every arrival and departure on the Tigers’ squad for the 2024 campaign. Position-by-position coverage of draft declarations, transfers, high school, and JUCO recruits will be provided here. Make sure you bookmark it now.
This tracker will change significantly over time, but for now, this second signing day edition is divided into several sections: scholarship players who have committed to return for the 2024 season (including those who haven’t said anything yet), players who left for the 2023 season, and noteworthy targets.
As usual, there are two key points to remember: first, this is not an official scholarship total. Teams keep all of the arithmetic involved in those numbers close to the vest. Since there will be a lot of movement, the numbers may not always add up. This tracker will initially focus more on the condition of the units than on the numbers.
As an example, this present chart shows that Auburn has over 85 players, but there are a lot of decisions to be made between now and then. (It also helps that there isn’t a strict 25-man cap for incoming classes; as long as Auburn is at 85 or below at the beginning of the following season, everything will be OK.)
Secondly, I’m not an authority on hiring. The great recruiting reporters at 247Sports, Rivals, and On3 have contributed much to the reporting of any reported targets that are included with each position group. (In this post specifically, I will rely on the public 247 database for recruit rankings and visit information.) As usual, I strongly advise you to subscribe to those sites and support their efforts if you want to learn more and have a comprehensive understanding of Auburn recruitment.
This is a real-time summary of each position’s activities, and we’ll do our best to maintain it updated during the signing and transfer windows.
