Live carabao cup drawing Liverpool and Chelsea find out their semi-final fates
The 2023–24 Carabao Cup final four is set, and the crucial drawing that took place on Wednesday night is also finished. After dominating West Ham 5-1 and adding goals from Dominik Szoboszlai, Mohamed Salah, and Cody Gakpo, Liverpool was the last club to throw their name into the hat. Curtis Jones scored a double.
Although Jarrod Bowen’s elegant consolation goal for West Ham made it 3-1 and raised the specter of an implausible late comeback, David Moyes’ team had a humiliating evening on Merseyside. Chelsea had already guaranteed their spot in the semi-finals after retaining their composure in a penalty shootout at Stamford Bridge and scored a late equalizer against Newcastle on Tuesday night.
In the Premier League, West London rivals Fulham also defeated Everton on penalties; in the Championship, Middlesbrough advanced to the semifinals this year as the only representatives of the EFL, defeating League One side Port Vale 3-0. Following Liverpool’s convincing victory at Anfield, watch the live Carabao Cup semi-final draw below.
The two-leg semifinal matches are scheduled to take place between January 8 and 22, 2024.
Chelsea will travel to Riverside Stadium, the site of their FA Cup quarterfinal victory in March 2022, before returning home for the second leg at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool, on the other hand, will first play Fulham at Anfield before making the trip to Craven Cottage for the rematch.
Just last month, Fulham lost a thrilling Premier League match 4-3 at Anfield. In their previous nine games with Liverpool, Fulham has only triumphed once.
