Mike Tomlin’s status as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers is under scrutiny after a three-game losing skid and unrest on the field regarding certain players’ effort levels.
There has been “chatter” around the NFL, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, that the Steelers are considering dealing Tomlin to clubs like the Washington Commanders, Chicago Bears, or Carolina Panthers that either have a coaching vacancy or are anticipated to have one.
Tomlin just has one more season left on his Steelers deal, so selling him might free up further draft picks, according to Russini.
During his 17-year tenure as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, this season has undoubtedly been the most turbulent for Tomlin. For months, he rejected demands from supporters and pundits to take Matt Canada’s place as offensive coordinator; on November 21, he ultimately fired him.

The whole of this week has been devoted to wide receiver George Pickens justifying himself for failing to stop a running play against the Indianapolis Colts that would have created an opening for Jaylen Warren to score.
Regarding the circumstances, Pickens remarked, “I didn’t want to get injured.” “When you stay in and block somebody, you can get run on very easily.”
A few weeks prior, Diontae Johnson faced criticism for not exerting enough effort during a Warren fumble against the Cincinnati Bengals.

In that same game, the Steelers defeated the Bengals 16-10 to improve their record to 7-4, and it appeared as though they would find a different way to have another good season under head coach Mike Tomlin. Since 2003, the club has not finished lower than.500 when Bill Cowher was still the head coach.
Instead, coming into their game against the Bengals on Saturday, the Steelers find themselves at 7-7 following three straight losses. Since Week 10, they haven’t scored 20 points or more in a game.
The Steelers are not a team that makes snap decisions, as seen by their past. Since 1969, they have only had three head coaches. The squad had not changed a coach or coordinator during the season since 1941, when Canada was fired.
With 170 victories in his head coaching career, Tomlin is tied for the 14th most in NFL history. In addition to two Super Bowl appearances—including a triumph over the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl 43—he has guided the Steelers to ten postseason outings.
