Buffalo Bills to elevate RB Leonard Fournette in Week 16 vs. Chargers, per source

The Buffalo Bills appear set to activate running back Leonard Fournette from the team’s practice squad for their Week 16 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, per an anonymous sourced shared through NFL Network/NFL.com National Insider Ian Rapoport.

While Fournette’s name has become synonymous with playoff football, it appears that the Bills will see what he brings to the table now, in what’s essentially become an extension of the playoffs for One Bills Drive.

According to a tweet by Rapoport, Fournette will serve as “(d)epth behind standout James Cook.” The Bills signed the 28-year-old Fournette to their practice squad on October, 31, with plenty of those in Bills Mafia wondering when he’d finally get his opportunity on game day.

In six seasons divided evenly between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Fournette has 1,132 carries for 4,478 yards, with 34 rushing touchdowns and four fumbles; adding 312 receptions (on 388 targets) for 2,219 yards with seven touchdown receptions.

Fournette’s most productive seasons were early in his career with the Jaguars, but he continued his strong play with the Buccaneers and proved to be an integral piece for Tampa Bay during the playoffs.
