Injury update: On Sunday, Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks did not break any ribs.
After suffering an injury in the second half against the Panthers, receiver Dontayvion Wicks was subsequently deemed doubtful to return and ultimately out of the game. Wicks stated in the locker room following the game, however, that it appears a serious injury was avoided.
Wicks acknowledged that an X-ray was taken in the locker room due to his chest injury, as reported by Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The bright side is that Wicks did not appear to have any broken ribs according to the X-ray. Wicks declined to say at the time if he would be able to play against the Minnesota Vikings the following week in what is expected to be a crucial Sunday Night Football game on New Year’s Eve.
Melton received his third and last promotion for the 2023 season this week when he was called up from the practice squad. The organization will need to call him up to the 53-man roster if they intend to use him against the Vikings. Green Bay finds itself in a difficult predicament since last week, lineman Luke Tenuta, tight end Luke Musgrave, and running back Emanuel Wilson were all given the designation to return from injured reserve. The 53-man roster shortage will almost definitely cause the roster to change going forward, especially if Watson, Reed, and Wicks are unable to play against Minnesota.
