DEC 19 BILLS OPEN PRACTICE WINDOW FOR DAQUAN JONES Reinforcements could be near for the Buffalo Bills’ defense.

Head coach Sean McDermott announced on Tuesday that the team has opened the 21-day practice window for defensive tackle DaQuan Jones. Jones had been on the injured reserve due to a pectoral injury that he suffered in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Before the injury, Jones had 2.5 sacks, 3 tackles-for-loss and 5 quarterback hits.

Buffalo (8-6) will look to extend its winning streak to three when they face the Los Angeles Chargers (5-9) on Saturday at SoFi Stadium at 8 p.m. ET.

DEC 17 GOT ‘EM Despite their dominant 31-10 blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys at Highmark Stadium on Sunday, the Buffalo Bills still have a ton of work to do before celebrating a trip to the postseason.

However, the Bills’ social media team is using the big win as an opportunity to poke fun at the Cowboys, a franchise that seems to always be at the center of jokes from opposing fans.

After the game, the Bills X account used the classic “everything is bigger in Texas” saying to make fun of the big “L” that the Cowboys just took. The Bills graphic design team deserves a raise for this one, as an image showing an L-shaped Texas state flag in the middle of the desert was a creative way to celebrate the win while also making fun of the Cowboys.

DEC 15 BILLS RULE OUT TWO Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott said Friday that safety Micah Hyde (stinger) and defensive end A.J. Epenesa (rib) are both out for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Hyde has dealt with the stinger issue for a few weeks, but appeared to re-aggravate it in the 20-17 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14. Epenesa exited due to injury against the Chiefs as well after he had made an incredible interception of Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the first quarter.

McDermott said that IR could be a likely destination for both players.

Buffalo (7-6) and Dallas (10-3) are set to kickoff at 4:25 p.m. ET. on Sunday.

DEC 14 EPENESA, HYDE MISS PRACTICE AGAIN The Buffalo Bills could be down two of their top defenders this weekend against the Dallas Cowboys.

Defensive end A.J. Epenesa (rib) and safety Micah Hyde (neck) did not practice for the second straight day in preparation for Sunday’s game.

Cornerback Taron Johnson (ankle) and tight end Dalton Kincaid (thumb, shoulder) were limited for the second straight day.

DEC 11 AFC EAST UP FOR GRABS? The Buffalo Bills got some help from the Tennessee Titans on Monday night.

The Titans (5-8) pulled off an incredible fourth-quarter comeback over Buffalo’s AFC East rival Miami Dolphins (9-4) to secure a 28-27 road win.

Miami’s loss helps the Bills’ chances at not only securing a playoff spot, but potentially sneaking into the lead for the AFC East come season’s end.

The Bills beat the Dolphins 48-20 in Week 4, and will be hoping for a similar result when Buffalo visits Miami in Week 18.

Of course, the Bills will still likely need to win out and could use some help around the league in hopes of having other 7-6 take some losses. But for now, Buffalo is in solid position to make a heck of a late-season turnaround.

DEC 10 JOSH TO JAMES The Buffalo Bills have taken an early lead in Sunday’s meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead.

After going four-and-out on their first drive, the Bills quickly got the ball back and used a six-play, 53-yard drive to score the game’s first points, as Josh Allen found running back James Cook wide open down the seam for a 25-yard touchdown.

DEC 9 BILLS ROSTER MOVES The Buffalo Bills have made some key roster moves ahead of Sunday’s meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead.

The Bills have elevated tight end Dawson Knox from injured reserve after he missed the past five games due to a wrist injury. This season, he’s posted 15 catches for 102 yards and one touchdown.

Buffalo also released linebacker A.J. Klein in a corresponding move.

DEC 6 BILLS COULD OPEN 2024 IN BRAZIL The NFL could look to expand its international audience, and Brazil may be next on the map.

ESPN reporter John Sutcliffe is reporting that the Miami Dolphins could open their 2024 season in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

While the schedule for 2024 won’t be released until May, the Dolphins play the Buffalo Bills twice each year, and they could be the opposing team for Miami in that potential Brazil game.

DEC 3 DOLPHINS EXTEND AFC EAST LEAD The Buffalo Bills are now officially three games back in the AFC East as the Miami Dolphins beat the Washington Commanders 45-15 on Sunday.

This means the Bills are going to have to find a way to gain two games on the Dolphins over the next four games to give themselves a chance to beat Miami and win the division in Week 18.

NOV 29 SALGADO HIRED A former member of the Buffalo Bills coaching staff is back in the NFL.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Washington Commanders have hired defensive backs coach Jim Salgado, who coached with the Bills under Sean McDermott from 2017-23.

In March, Salgado returned to the college ranks to join the Michigan State Spartans staff. But now, after Mel Tucker was fired, Salgado needed a new job, and finds a home with the Commanders for the final weeks of the NFL season.

NOV 27 REICH FIRED The NFL has a new head coach opening on Monday after the Carolina Panthers fired Frank Reich following a 1-10 start.

Reich was hired by the Panthers in the offseason after the Indianapolis Colts fired him.

During his 13-year career as a quarterback, Reich played 93 games with the Buffalo Bills from 1985-94, including two playoff games in 1992. He led the Bills to a comeback victory in the 1992 Wild Card after trailing 35-3 to the Houston Oilers.

NOV 26 JOSH ALLEN AGAIN Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is having one of his best games of the season on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

He put Buffalo up in front by 10 at 24-14 in the third quarter thanks to his second rushing touchdown of the game.

NOV 25 SAUCE GARDNER FINED FOR TACKLE ON STEFON DIGGS An already tough loss just became a little tougher for New York Jets cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner.

The second-year cornerback was fined $10,927 for his tackle against Buffalo Bills receiver Stefon Diggs. The tackle drew a flag for unnecessary roughness.

NOV 24 DOLPHINS BEAT JETS ON BLACK FRIDAY The Miami Dolphins are pulling ahead in the AFC East following their 34-13 win on Friday afternoon against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.

The Dolphins are now 8-3, a full two games ahead of the Buffalo Bills.

The Bills will have a chance to inch closer to the top team in the division on Sunday when they face the Philadelphia Eagles. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET.

NOV 20 ZACH WILSON BENCHED AFTER BILLS GAME The New York Jets lost 32-6 against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, and feel the need to make a change at quarterback.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Jets will start Tim Boyle at quarterback for their next game on Friday against the Miami Dolphins.

Boyle relieved Wilson in Sunday’s game and completed 7 of 14 passes for 33 yards and an interception. Wilson had a similar stat line with 7 completions on 15 attempts for 81 yards, a touchdown and a pick.

NOV 13 JAMES COOK CRAZY PLAY Buffalo Bills running back James Cook started Monday night’s game against the Denver Broncos with a fumble on the opening play. It marked only the second fumble of his career, and it looked like he had his third on a crucial drive in the fourth quarter.

Instead, it turned into one of the luckiest plays you’ll see.

Cook was stripped of the ball by Denver safety Justin Simmons as he was about to break into the secondary. But instead of a Broncos recovery, the ball bounced off the turf and right back into Cook’s hands, who continued running before being tackled on a 42-yard run.

The Bills capped off the drive with a six-yard run from Josh Allen to take a 22-21 lead with only 1:55 to play in the fourth.

NOV 11 BILLS VS BRONCOS INJURY REPORT The Buffalo Bills have revealed their final injury report ahead of Monday’s meeting with the Denver Broncos at Highmark Stadium.

Buffalo has ruled out safety Micah Hyde (neck/stinger) and cornerback Christian Benford (hamstring) for the contest. Starting linebacker Terrel Bernard is questionable with a concussion.

Bills star receiver Stefon Diggs, who popped up on the Friday injury report with a back issue, was limited on Friday and Saturday. However, he does not carry an injury designation headed into Monday, and told reporters that he’s “100%” ready.

NOV 9 BILLS INJURY REPORT The Buffalo Bills have revealed their Thursday injury report ahead of Monday’s meeting with the Denver Broncos.

All four players who were listed as DNP for Thursday’s practice are on defense, as linebacker Leonard Floyd (illness), cornerback Christian Benford (hamstring) and safeties Micah Hyde (neck/stinger) and Jordan Poyer (shin) all sat out due.

NOV 5 MICAH HYDE INJURED The Buffalo Bills announced that safety Micah Hyde is questionable to return to the fourth quarter of Sunday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium due to a stinger.

Hyde landed hard on the turf while defending a pass to Ja’Marr Chase earlier in the game. He also took a blindside hit from Bengals offensive lineman Cordell Volson as a play was winding down, though Volson wasn’t flagged.

Hyde had to be helped off the field afterwards and was in visible pain on the sidelines.

NOV 3 JOSH ALLEN TO PLAY VS. CINCINNATI BENGALS After appearing earlier this week on the injury report, head coach Sean McDermott announced on WGR550 that Josh Allen will play on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium.

Allen didn’t practice on Wednesday because of his right shoulder, then was a full participant on Thursday, quelling much doubt that he’d be out on Sunday.

McDermott also announced that Damar Hamlin (illness) and Quinton Morris (ankle) are trending in the right direction after being full participants in practice on Thursday, while linebacker Baylon Spector (hamstring) and A.J. Klein are out for the game.

The Bills (5-3) face the Bengals (4-3) on Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET.

NOV 2 JOSH ALLEN, DAMAR HAMLIN FULL PRACTICE Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was a full participant at Thursday’s practice after being listed as DNP on Wednesday due to a injury on his throwing shoulder.

Allen injured his shoulder in Week 8’s 24-18 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but didn’t miss an offensive snap en route to going 31 of 40 passing for 324 yards, two touchdowns and one pick.

Damar Hamlin, who will be making his triumphant return to Cincinnati, was also a full go at practice after missing Wednesday due to illness.

OCT 31 BUFFALO BILLS CONNECTED TO JAYLON JOHNSON With numerous injuries ravaging the Buffalo Bills’ defense, they could look to add another difference maker not just for the rest of this season, but for the future as well.

The Buffalo Bills are rumored to be one of the teams interested in Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson by Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz. Johnson is in the final year of his rookie contract and talks about a contract extension have gotten to the point where he’s been allowed to seek a trade. The San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers are also reported by Schultz to be in play for the young cornerback.

Johnson, 24, has two interceptions through six games this season and his play has earned him a grade of 84.4 from Pro Football Focus.

With Tre’Davious White out for the season due to a torn achilles, Johnson could step in and become cornerstone piece on the Bills defense for the future if traded to Buffalo.

OCT 26 JOSH ALLEN IN BLUE TENT Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen went into the blue medical tent on the sideline during the first half of Thursday night’s home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It’s unclear what he was being checked for, as the Bills didn’t announce an official injury in the first half. However, Amazon Prime sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung pointed out that Allen was not lifting his right arm much on the sideline, but Bills coach Sean McDermott said “he’s fine” when asked about it during the halftime interview.

Backup quarterback Kyle Allen was seen warming up on the sideline, but Josh Allen eventually exited the tent and began Buffalo’s fourth possession of the first half.

The Bills lead 17-10 in the third quarter.

OCT 26 BILLS BETTING FAVORITES VS. BUCS The Buffalo Bills are getting ready for battle tonight against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and sportsbooks like their chances.

SI Sportsbook lists the Bills as an 8.5-point favorite just hours before kickoff.

The Bills and Bucs play at 8:15 p.m. on Amazon Prime.

OCT 23 DORSEY VOTE OF CONFIDENCE? It is sometimes called “a dreaded vote of confidence.” And when we listen to Bills coach Sean McDermott dissect his team’s 29-25 loss to the lowly Patriots on Sunday in NFL Week 7, we wonder if what he’s saying about offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey comes under the heading of “dreaded.”

“I oversee all three phases, we have communication across all three phases,” McDermott said, speaking generally about where the 4-3 Bills are. “Collectively, we need to continue to find answers.”

And specifically, about Dorsey? McDermott at the very least did not seem at great ease with the line of questioning.

“Yeah,” he said. “I’m confident, confident in Ken.”

This does mark three straight subpar performances for Buffalo; Bills Mafia has reason to be concerned, and the coaching staff has reason to be under fire, as it was even going into the game, when McDermott was asked about what chance there was of him changing play-callers.

“Zero,” he said flatly. … surely knowing that while the line of questioning can be easily dismissed, the concerns can not.

OCT 20 BUFFALO BILLS RULE THREE PLAYERS OUT FOR SUNDAY Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott has ruled out defensive tackle Ed Oliver, tight end Quintin Morris and running back Damien Harris for Sunday.

Oliver is dealing with a toe injury, while Morris has an ankle injury. Harris is recovering from a neck injury along with a concussion that he suffered on Sunday and had to be driven off of the field in an ambulance.

Morris, Harris and Oliver were the only three players that didn’t practice throughout the week.

Rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid is set to return after being out against the New York Giants with a concussion.

The Bills face the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

OCT 19 THURSDAY INJURY REPORT Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is limited in practice for the second straight day with a shoulder injury.

Given Allen’s participation, signs look good towards him playing Sunday, but there is still some caution being used.

The Bills are relatively healthy going into this weekend’s game against the New England Patriots, with only running back Damien Harris (neck), defensive tackle Ed Oliver (toe) and tight end Quintin Morris (ankle) not practicing.

OCT 18 ALLEN ‘CONCERN’? Buffalo QB Josh Allen is among those scheduled to practice on Wednesday. But …

Coach Sean McDermott is not hiding from having some level of “concern” for Allen, who sustained a shoulder injury in the Week 6 win which was followed by x-rays.

McDermott indicated that he an Allen have good communication on how the QB is truly feeling about the issue, “Right now it’s a one-day-at-a-time approach. So we’ll see.”

But McDermott also added: “I’ll know more a little bit after today … ( injuries are) always a concern. …”

OCT 16 REX RYAN COACHING BRONCOS?

Former Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan may find himself back in the NFL soon.

According to ESPN’s Pat McAfee, the Denver Broncos could be looking to change their defensive coordinator, and Ryan could be in the mix.

Ryan coached the Buffalo Bills from 2015-16. He also has defensive coordinator experience with the Baltimore Ravens from 2005-08.

OCT 12 DANIEL JONES OUT VS BILLS The Buffalo Bills will not have to gameplan for New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones this Sunday.

Giants coach Brian Daboll said Friday that Jones’ neck injury will keep him sidelined for Sunday night’s contest at Highmark Stadium. He suffered the injury in New York’s 31-16 loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 5.

Jones has taken a beating this season behind a porous Giants (1-4) offensive line that has allowed 30 sacks, the most in the NFL.

With Jones is out, Buffalo (3-2) will face former quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who was the Bills starting quarterback from 2015 to 2017 and went 22-20 in that span. He helped lead Buffalo to its first playoff appearance since 1999.
