Juan Soto was dealt by the San Diego Padres to the New York Yankees in a seven-player blockbuster.

NEW YORK (AP) — After the team’s worst season in thirty years, Juan Soto is leaving for the New York Yankees, their first major trade since.

Wednesday night, New York made a blockbuster trade with the cost-cutting Padres to obtain Soto and Gold Glove center fielder Trent Grisham. Along with catcher Kyle Higashioka, San Diego was given right-handed pitchers Michael King, Jhony Brito, Randy Vásquez, and Drew Thorpe.

In less than two years, it was the 25-year-old Soto’s second major transaction. With one season remaining on his team control, the three-time All-Star slugger is expected to earn a salary of roughly $32 million after hitting.In his lone complete season with the Padres, he hit.930 with 35 home runs, 109 RBIs, and an OPS of 275.
