Kevin Durant Gets Honest on Facing James Harden and Russell Westbrook.
Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook all shared the court together once again…
It’s been nearly a decade since Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook separated from the Oklahoma City Thunder, but it’s still special for fans to see them on the same court. While fans may feel like it’s still special, Durant has moved past that.
Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook all shared the court together once again when the Clippers faced off against the Phoenix Suns; it was a moment that brought fans back to the Oklahoma City Thunder big three days. Durant has moved past those days, but he still reminisces fondly of them.
“No, ain’t no “more special.” It’s always. I’ve been competing against these guys on other teams for the last ten years it feels like,” Durant said. “So, it’s past that point of being special seeing these guys again, it’s just another opponent. We got respect for each other. We’re never gonna forget those moments we shared coming into the league because I feel like a lot of teams and a lot of franchises in sports looked at that young team and that’s something to emulate.”
Regardless of how ugly the split between the Oklahoma City Thunder was, all three members are old enough now to look upon those days fondly. To move past their younger ego-filled days, and just be appreciative that it happened.
“So, it was a special time for me,” Durant said. “I don’t know how everybody else feels about that time, but it was a special, special time that I always pull back from, and I always loved playing with those guys. So, it’s good to see them have some success and still be in the league at 16, 15, 17 years in the league. That’s always fun to see.”
No matter how old anyone gets, seeing Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook on the same court together will always be special. They’re arguably the best big three that never won an NBA Championship together.
