Breaking news: Two key Packers we’re injured during…

“Number one, we’re very disappointed. I don’t think anybody saw this coming. You got to give Green Bay credit. They came in here hot. And this, you just saw on film over the past month.

You know, they executed, and we didn’t. So, we didn’t get it done in any of the phases. We’re hurting, we’re disappointed, every man.” On what the Green Bay offense did tonight “Clearly the best thing they did in my opinion coming in was the deep play action game. And then, you know, obviously the protection was there. He (Jordan Love) was able to buy time, extend plays, and we just gave up too many of them.”

“Clearly the best thing they did in my opinion coming in was the deep play action game. And then, you know, obviously the protection was there. He (Jordan Love) was able to buy time, extend plays, and we just gave up too many of them.”

“I think the biggest thing is, you know, we’re disappointed. I got a whole team in the locker room that’s hurting. I haven’t thought past the outcome of this game.” On if there was a point in the game where he thought his team was flat “No, I wouldn’t say we were we flat. There was energy. They made more plays than we did. The big play production; we were minus-three at halftime. We just didn’t get the stops. Didn’t get it to a two-score game quick enough. So, you know the turnovers and all the things…like I said, we did not play to our capabilities. The way we’ve been playing – particularly at home – we’re disappointed.”

“Just express the reality of where we are. This is a hurtful loss. You know we put ourselves in position to play a home playoff game. We had a great opportunity, felt really good about the week of preparation. You know, so we thought we matched up well. But, you know, we clearly picked a wrong day to have a bad day.” On Dak Prescott tonight

“I think like anything, you’re always trying to get your quarterback into a rhythm. It took a little longer than I would have liked. So, we had the two turnovers that factored into points. We didn’t slow them down on defense. And once again, we did some good things in the return game, but like I said, we didn’t get it done in any of the phases.”

Yeah, I mean…frustrated, just as you just said. Great word for my play. The way we came out here and the way we started the game. Just shocked, honestly, from the beginning of the game. We got beat, there’s no other way around it, no way to sugarcoat it. Obviously, I didn’t play well. On his feelings before the game and why he was out of rhythm during gametime… I felt great. I wish I had that answer for you. Maybe my mind was moving a little faster than my body. Just being prepared and getting from one to another maybe a second too fast or half a second too fast. And with that, the ball jumps a little bit more. Just talking about it, I knew it was going to have enough spin on the ball and a sense of bringing it down. I guessed when I needed to, and I didn’t early. Then, by that time when I did it, it was too late.

On what needs to happen for the team to get past the past few playoff appearances… I wish I had that answer for you, honestly.

On his thoughts about Coach McCarthy this year after hearing the speculations of his coaching status… He’s been amazing. I don’t know how they can be, but I understand the business. In that case, it should be about me as well. I’ve had the season that I’ve had because of him. This team has had the success that they’ve had because of him. I understand it’s about winning the Super Bowl. That’s the standard of this league and damn sure the standard of this place. I get it but add me to the list in that case. On his feelings about starting back at square one… It’s a shock because as I said to begin with, damn sure didn’t think this is where we’d be. As far as anything I can promise you, from scheduling, myself, this team, this organization, that this would be it. Credit to those guys [Green Bay Packers], they came out here and handled business. No disrespect to those guys going in, but it was just the confidence that this group had and what we’ve done, and what we’ve done at home. It’ll take a little bit more time to digest it completely, to be honest with you. But, stunned.

Potentially. I need to go back and look at the film. Understanding the success that they were having on offense, I think that’s kind of natural in a sense. It was things that we talked about of just staying to it, stay in one play at a time. In that sense, there was an interception return for a touchdown I read before the half. Great play by that guy and I read it all the way. I have to read it better. At that point, I think that what’s made it a little too far. Especially with them coming out in the second half and continuing to have success. Nobody ever lost confidence on the offense. You could say that we were pressing and trying to get the ball back. Nobody ever lost confidence, we understood that the only way for us to even have a chance was to take it play by play. Guys kept fighting and I’m proud of the guys for that.

On his thoughts about his trouble connecting with CeeDee Lamb tonight… Credit them for some of the early looks disguising how they were going to play him. And then late after the snap, moving and not giving me the same picture that they were pre-snap as they did post-snap. Credit to them. Then I missed him on the sideline on a little roll out. But once we got it going, it was too late. But it was as usual, CeeDee going to make a play. On the season ending prematurely despite the regular season success “1,000 percent, 1,000 percent. I’m not a guy who lives in the past. Where my feet are and at this moment, yeah, I sucked tonight, that was it. I got it going a little bit late but none of that mattered at that point. Fall, that’s all I really know how to do. It’s about winning and winning the playoffs and getting to the last game and winning that as well. Yeah, tough.” On reading better on the Darnell Savage interception

“I had CeeDee (Lamb) on the slant and the inside guy was running an L-route slant as well and I mean, he jumped it from the jump. I’m watching the tight end grab the first guy, understanding they are in combo coverage, and I’ve just got to move out of that and get it to the outside. As I said, trusting it and throwing it, wasn’t the right decision. On if Green Bay did more in preparation in film “No, not necessarily. I mean it’s not stuff that they show on film. If you go back in and look at the season, the teams that have had success against our offense, that’s what they have done. They came out and didn’t play much man. They combo’d some things, read some routes and right there, that was an example of them being prepared for that and jumped it. They read me better than I read them, unfortunately. On how you translate your regular season performance into your post season performance “It’s tough to give you that answer when I just went out there and we just did that. Unfortunately, that’s what the offseason is for and it’s a long one. Yeah, I wish I could give you that answer.” On healthiness of team adding to the disappointment of the loss

“For sure, there are no excuses. As Ed said, we had it all lined up three hours ago. This is the last place that anybody in this organization, especially in our locker room, would have thought that we were going to be, and I’m sure you guys as well. That’s why I keep using the words ‘shocked’ or ‘stunned’. They came out here and they were better than us in all facets of the game. It sucks.” TE, JAKE FERGUSON On the hardest part of the ending of this season… Just knowing how hard everybody in this locker room worked. That goes beyond the start of this season. This works been going on since last year. I think we just have to learn from it. It’s a tough one. I don’t really have any words. On if the team was waiting for a moment or a spark… A spark…sure. But this is the NFL. This is playoff football. You have to have more than one spark. You have to keep playing. You have to play continuously good football. They were hot and I think I was off a little bit early, especially in some of the run game. I just look at that and you can’t have those mistakes early, especially in playoff football. The margin of error is tiny. On why the team wasn’t in rhythm…

We were making plays…sure, you can say rhythm…But we prepared. Loved our preparation this week. Just one of those ones that you don’t come away with. On how you bounce back… For starters you get your a** in the weight room and get your a** in the playbook. You start now. The offseason starts now. Really, I see it as the preparation for next year starts now. I kind of look back and say “hey Ferg I was off on this or I was off on that, or I need to be better in the run game or blocking or whatever it may be”, that starts now for me. WR, CEEDEE LAMB On why it was so hard to get in a groove… It’s playoff football and you can’t give anybody an edge. I feel like that was big today. On if the offense started pressing more in the second quarter… Not really. We were kind of playing from behind. In this league that’s probably the worst thing to do and we knew we were in bad situations. So we just had to continue to make plays. On if there’s anything that prepares the team for this result… No not at all. Obviously, it caught us by surprise. We had everything we wanted to see on film. On if any of the achievements matter from the regular season… Not at all. On if that’s the painful part about this loss…

Absolutely. 17 weeks is the season and then you have four weeks after that. Whatever you do in those four weeks that’s how you last remember it. On head coach Mike McCarthy’s message after the game… Very disappointing loss. We understood the situation, we knew we were supposed to win the game. But we’re still a family. OL, TYLER SMITH On if the offense started pressing after falling behind… I mean that’s kind of what happens when the flow of the game, I feel like once we came out in the second half our goal is to score. We got points on the board then they got points on the board. From there it becomes a time game. They controlled more. When you’re up 24, you can’t run the ball as much, you have to start pressing. You have to start getting the ball in the air. They want to feed off that. I feel like we did some good things in the end but we just had to do it earlier on. On how the team was prepared…

I love Coach McCarthy. I think we did everything we could do. He was on us about preparing the right away. He was on us about the details. That’s a lot of preparation that every other guy took personally in theirs. I feel like he took care of us, we didn’t change anything, didn’t try to do anything crazy. We stayed us. Today they just played better football. CB STEPHON GILMORE On the game and (your) emotions… They started out hot and we weren’t able to stop them, especially on the defensive side. We weren’t able to get in a rhythm. I think they only punted one time. So, that’s ultimately what it came down to. On not getting the stops on defense during the game… I don’t know. I’ll have to watch the tape to really see. But they were running the ball and then they got into short yardage and were able to pass the ball here and there and we just couldn’t get in a rhythm, and we didn’t force any turnovers. They just played well today. On Jordan Love’s play and anything that surprised you…

He’s a good quarterback. They’re in the position (they’re in) for a reason. But they got into a bunch of twelve personnel and ran the ball a little bit and then play action passed it. We just couldn’t get in a rhythm. We just had to play better; and in the playoffs if you don’t do that, that’s the results you get. On guys being open in the secondary and the frustration of that… I have to watch the tape. They drew up some good plays. They executed and you have to give your hats off to them because they were able to do that and execute, and we didn’t. On being surprised of the result.. I’m surprised. I didn’t see this coming. So, I’m very surprised because I know what type of team we have. But in the playoffs you have to prove it and you can’t have any down days. That’s how the game goes. NICKELBACK JORDAN LEWIS On your feelings after this game…

I don’t know. I’m kind of distraught. You don’t know what to feel. We definitely didn’t know that we’d be feeling this, this early. On any particular play of the game the game swung on… We just didn’t execute at all, and they had our number all day. We didn’t execute to the best of our ability, so they took it advantage of that. On Jordan Love as a quarterback and if he surprised you… No, we knew that he had talent, and we knew that they had talent around him too. So, we just didn’t do our job containing him in that passing game and that gave way to Aaron Jones. They’ve got some good skill positions out there as you saw. We just didn’t execute. On anything you want to say to the fans…

We appreciate you guys, especially when we come home. You guys are as loud as you guys can be, so definitely not the way we wanted to end it, but we definitely appreciate you guys coming out and always supporting us. On any new wrinkles they had or was this just lack of execution? Of course, there’s going to be something in a playoff game, but we’ve got to be able to rely on our technique; just our basic game plan. So just understanding our leverages and stuff like that and not trying to make a play when it’s not your turn to make a play. They just took advantage of that, and they just were who they were. They took advantage of us being pretty aggressive and they just did a good job.
