Breaking news: Bears set to announce and welcome their QB.
The Chicago Bears are the middle of an important offseason that features some big decisions. There’s none more important than what to do at quarterback — stick with Justin Fields or draft his replacement.
The Bears have two top-10 picks in the 2024 NFL draft, after trading the top pick to the Carolina Panthers last offseason. For the second consecutive season, Chicago has the No. 1 pick (thanks to the Panthers) and their own No. 9 selection.
NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah released his first 2024 NFL mock draft, where he has the Bears addressing two premium positions with those two first-round selections. General manager Ryan Poles elects to move on from quarterback Justin Fields and pairs a young, power edge rusher with Pro Bowler Montez Sweat.
Here’s a look:

The Bears have an important decision to make at quarterback this offseason — stick with Justin Fields or draft a rookie (most likely USC’s Caleb Williams) at first overall. For Jeremiah, the decision is simple: You start over with Williams, the most talented quarterback in this draft class.
Here’s what Jeremiah had to say:
We’ve seen Justin Fields continue to improve, but I still believe GM Ryan Poles’ decision at No. 1 overall will be an easy one. The Bears select Williams, the most talented quarterback in the class.
Round 1, Pick 9: EDGE Jared Verse, Florida State

If Chicago stays put at No. 1, they’re drafting a quarterback. So that leaves plenty of options for their second top-10 selection. Edge rusher is certainly a position that needs to be addressed. Montez Sweat emerged as a stud pass rusher for the Bears — earning his first Pro Bowl nod — and Jeremiah has Chicago pairing a talented edge rusher in Florida State’s Jared Verse with Sweat.
