It’s been a challenge period of transition for the Alabama football program as Nick Saban announced his retirement last Wednesday.
The Crimson Tide has seen 26 players enter the transfer portal during the offseason cycle, with 10 of those players choosing the portal after Saban stepped down, making for a barrage of bad news for the Alabama faithful.
The tide begins to turn a bit more into Alabama’s favor as former Washington Husky, redshirt sophomore center Parker Brailsford intends to transfer into Tuscaloosa and continue playing for new Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer.
Brailsford was listed at 6-foot-2, 275-pounds on the Washington Huskies official 2023 roster. He started all 15 games for the Joe Moore Award winning offensive line, snapping and protecting Heisman Trophy runner-up Michael Penix.
He was originally rated as a 3-star prospect out of Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, Arizona in the class of 2022. 247Sports considers Brailsford the No. 1 interior lineman in the transfer portal and the No. 25 overall portal prospect.
The redshirt sophomore spent his freshman year in Seattle on the Huskies scout team, winning offensive scout of the week twice and was the Bob Jarvis Offensive Scout Squad MVP Award winner for the season.
Brailsford impressed in his first season starting, earning recognition on the All-PAC-12 Second Team and becoming a Shaun Alexander Award semifinalist.
The Crimson Tide had a significant need at center with super senior Seth McLaughlin transferring to Ohio State, Darrian Dalcourt graduating and T.J. Ferguson transferring to Florida State.
Brailsford should plug right into the Alabama line and help the group learn offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb’s system with offensive line coach Scott Huff’s schematics.
