After an ugly end to their season, the Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly set to make another big change to their coaching staff.
Offensive coordinator Brian Johnson is unlikely to return in 2024, according to Eagles reporter Derrick Gunn. Johnson will last just one season in the role if the report is accurate.
The Eagles have clearly decided wholesale changes are necessary, though head coach Nick Sirianni is safe. That is a logical conclusion after starting 10-1, only to lose six of seven to close the season, including a Wild Card loss to Tampa Bay. The offense was a big part of that collapse, failing to reach the 20-point plateau in five of those six defeats.
This is just the latest move in what is proving to be a total staff overhaul in Philadelphia. The team will have two new coordinators in 2024 for the second year in a row, though this time it is because the organization struggled to replace Shane Steichen and Jonathan Gannon, who both became head coaches elsewhere after last year.
Johnson actually received head coach interest this cycle, but he’s probably going to have to find another offensive coordinator job elsewhere.
