BREAKING NEWS: Blues WR set for surgery.
Robert Thomas will represent the St. Louis Blues at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game, and he will find out tonight whether he plays for Team Matthews, Team MacKinnon, Team McDavid, or Team Hughes. The captains of each team, plus their honorary celebrity captains, will let us know tonight where Thomas will end up for the big game.
This is the first time the NHL has given us the draft format since we saw it in the early-to-mid 2010s, and several great players have represented the Blues during those three events in 2011, 2012, and 2015. If you’re interested in seeing which team will select Thomas, make sure you watch the draft tonight at 7 PM CST on ESPN 2, SN, or TVAS.
Several prominent St. Louis Blues players took part in the All-Star Draft format
David Backes was one of the better defensive forwards in the game during the first half of his career, and he heard his name called in 2011 for Team Staal. Backes was one of two players to score three points for the team, putting up a trio of helpers. Despite Backes’ effort, Team Staal lost by a goal.
Goaltender Brian Elliott saw 20 minutes of action for Team Alfredsson, but he took the loss after posting a 0.684 save percentage and a GAA of 18.00. Elliott was also on Team Foligno in the 2015 event but was once again charged with a loss after he recorded a GAA of 18.00 plus a save percentage of 0.600.
Elliott wasn’t the only member of the St. Louis Blues to see time in the 2015 game, as Kevin Shattenkirk also played for Team Foligno. Shattenkirk put up two points with one goal and an assist, making him one of 11 players to log multiple points on the team.
While Elliott and Shattenkirk played on the losing side that year, Vladimir Tarasenko went against his teammates and saw ice time on Team Toews. And he produced, scoring four assists in the contest, which helped Team Toews win 17-12.
