Viktor Gyökeres is the gift that keeps on giving for Coventry City, with the Championship side set to receive a one million Euro bonus after the striker racked up 25 goals for Sporting Lisbon.

The former Sky Blues star took his incredible season’s tally to 26 with a brace in the midweek Portuguese Cup victory over Leiria. The 25-year-old signed for Sporting last summer for €24 million (around £20 million) in a loaded deal that sees City earn bonuses based on his success.

Coventry will also benefit from a sell-on clause if and when the player is sold by the Portuguese giants, which is likely to happen in the summer given his high profile around Europe. His goals and assists stats—26 goals and 10 assists in 28 games in all competitions—are bettered only by Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane, with 28 goals in 27 games.
