Breaking news: Isiah Pacheco promes’ 6-years jail sentence for cocaine smuggling but…

With the 2024 NFL offseason underway, teams are making moves along the fringes for roster expansion to 90 for the next league year. The Kansas City Chiefs are no different, as the club has retained several practice squad talents as of late.

Earlier this week, news broke that veteran defensive tackle Isaiah Buggs was re-signed on a futures contract. Per a personnel notice on Wednesday, he’s joined by seven other players as inked to new deals with Kansas City. Here’s the full list, including Buggs:

Many of those names should be familiar from their contributions during the regular season. No member of the list played a more significant role than Dickerson, who played in 12 games while amassing 15 tackles (one for loss). The former UCLA standout logged 190 defensive snaps during the year, then another 16 in the Divisional Round against the Buffalo Bills.

Elsewhere, the trio of Ingram, Prince and Washington had their names come up at different points in the year. After being signed to the practice squad in late November, Ingram was elevated prior to a Week 17 game against the Cincinnati Bengals but didn’t play. Prince, a priority undrafted free agent pickup, was a preseason standout and played 15 special teams snaps in Weeks 14 and 15 of the regular season. Washington was one of the Chiefs’ go-to return options in Weeks 3-6, bringing back one kickoff and eight punts for a combined 81 yards.

Jones was an undrafted free agent signing out of Harvard. Dean signed with Kansas City’s practice squad during the AFC playoffs. Taylor was activated from the practice squad prior to Wild Card Weekend but didn’t end up playing against the Miami Dolphins.

As the Chiefs move forward with their offseason, it doesn’t hurt to keep these players around the organization. Futures contracts are notoriously cheap, and 90-man roster depth is important for every franchise to have throughout the offseason program. Kansas City still has several expired practice squad contracts to negotiate in the coming days and weeks, but this is a solid start following the conclusion of Super Bowl LVIII.
