In the aforementioned documentary, Brady revealed that his reason for leaving the Patriots was due to his relationship with head coach Bill Belichick. The conditions under Belichick apparently became “brutal” and this prompted the player to not re-sign with the franchise.

Tom Brady stated that he had no desire to re-sign for the New England Patriots
According to People Magazine, Tom Brady said that even though he and head coach Bill Belichick spent 20 years doing what they loved, he had made up his mind to now re-sign for the New England Patriots.
He stated, “Me and coach Belichick, we did what we loved and competed for 20 years together. But I wasn’t going to sign another contract [in New England] even if I wanted to play until [I was] 50. Based on how things had gone, I wasn’t going to sign up for more of it.”
Belichick finally departed his role as head coach of the Patriots in early 2024. Under his leadership, the franchise appeared in nine Super Bowls, with a record six wins.
