Everything is set up for the Leeds player to sign a record-breaking contract with Manchester City.

It’s been a mixed week for Coventry City so far, with the low of Friday night’s dismal 3-0 defeat by Preston quickly forgotten by Monday’s memorable FA Cup victory over non-league Maidstone. The 5-0 thrashing came as a welcome pick-me-up ahead of another tough league test when the Sky Blues travel to the Hawthorns on Friday (8pm kick-off) to face the in-form Baggies.

Mark Robins’ men will know who they’ll face in the quarterfinals of the cup by then, with the sixth round draw taking place on Wednesday evening (7pm) on ITV4 ahead of their coverage of the fifth round tie between Chelsea and Leeds United. There’s still plenty of excitement and much to play for on two fronts for the championship club, who could do with a positive result in the league to stay in touch with race for the play-offs.

Fans had been desperate for news on Tatsuhiro Sakamoto’s injury, and when Ellis Simms scored and ran to the dugout and grabbed his teammate’s No 7 shirt before holding it up to the crowd, we all knew the injury was bad. The striker revealed afterwards that the players had plotted the gesture during their group huddle before kick-off, knowing full well that Tatsu would be watching the game from home. It showed the real bond, togetherness and team spirit that has been at the core of each and every one of Mark Robins’ evolving squads over the last seven years.
