Washington Commanders: Adam Peters Drops Cryptic Hint On Intriguing QB Plans At 2024 NFL Draft

The Washington Commanders have one of the most precious assets this offseason. It may not be the top overall pick at the 2024 NFL Draft, but it’s the next best thing. The Commanders will be picking second at the draft, just after the Chicago Bears, who are widely expected to get USC Trojans product Caleb Williams. Will the commanders follow suit and select a new signal-caller as well? The commanders aren’t tipping their hands just yet, but the smart prediction is that Washington will draft a QB.Could Washington Commanders Pull Off 2 NFL Draft Trades in Round 1? - Sports Illustrated Washington Football News, Analysis and More

For now, Washington Commanders general manager Adam Peters will try to learn as much about the QB prospects as possible at the 2024 NFL Draft Combine in Indianapolis (via Ben Standig of The Athletic).

“I would say this is a good year if you needed a quarterback,” Peters said. “I’m not saying we need a quarterback, but if you did, I think there are some really good options, and I’m really excited to meet them.”

Neither Williams nor Daniels are expected to participate in passing drills this week. All talent evaluators value any data possible, but “if you’re a top-five pick, you have to make a cost-benefit analysis,” Peters acknowledged.

Sam Howell just doesn’t seem to be the guy who can be the long-term solution under center for the Washington Commanders. If not Williams, perhaps the Commanders will go for Drake Maye, another former North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback just like Howell, but with a bigger potential and higher upside than what Howell carried with him ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft, where he had to wait until the fifth round to hear his name.
