Wednesday was a special day for Luka Doncic. The Dallas Mavericks’ superstar point guard turned 25 and led his team to an important victory over the Toronto Raptors — while carving out for himself a new slice of NBA history.
Doncic produced a 30-point triple-double in Toronto to help the Mavericks bounce back from a disappointing collapse in Cleveland the previous night, becoming the first player in the Association’s long history to register a triple-double with at leas 30 points…on his birthday. It is the latest in an ever-growing list of milestones for Luka, whose name continues to be compared to some of the sport’s greats.

Luka passes LeBron on a triple-double list
Doncic dominated Dallas’ 136-125 win in Toronto, finishing with 16 assists and 11 rebounds in addition to his 30 points. The Mavericks trailed by one point at halftime but roared to life in the third quarter, outscoring the Raptors 40-25 in the frame and winning comfortably in the end to improve to 34-25 this season.
With his 39th career 30-point triple-double, Doncic passed Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James on the list of such games in league history. It was also Doncic’s 11th triple-double just this season and the 67th of his career — which is a little less than six seasons old.
