Bears star quarterback Justin Fields has already been the hottest name on the trade market early into the NFL offseason and rumors are starting to heat up.
Chicago is at the epicenter of the deal zone as owners of the Panthers’ No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Bears landed the top selection in the trade that sent last year’s No. 1 overall pick to Carolina, allowing it to move up and draft Alabama star quarterback Bryce Young.
After taking Fields with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Chicago wanted to give its potential franchise quarterback a better opportunity to prove himself. Finishing the season with a disappointing 7-10 record and last-place finish in the NFC North, the Bears appear to be more comfortable moving on from the 24-year-old this time around.
USC quarterback Caleb Williams is seen as the grand prize of this year’s draft and Chicago is reportedly considering moving Fields, which would pave the way for the team to select the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner.

Falcons emerging as Bears’ best trade partner for Fields

“A league source told NBC Sports Chicago that the Falcons have checked in with the Bears about Fields,” Schrock reported. “It’s unclear how far those conversations went but there’s reason to expect them to pick back up this week in Indianapolis.”
The Falcons have made it clear that they’re interested in upgrading at quarterback. On Tuesday, new head coach Raheem Morris outright stated, “If we had better quarterback play, I might not be standing here at the podium.”
Morris also mentioned finding the “best fit for our city,” which caused rumors to pick up even more, considering Fields is from Kennesaw, Ga.

Steelers, Falcons and Raiders headline teams interested in Fields
Date: Feb. 27
Source: Tyler Dragon, USA Today Sports
“A person familiar with the situation told USA TODAY Sports that the Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders have expressed some level of interest in Fields,” Dragon wrote.
All three destinations would make sense for the dual-threat quarterback, considering each franchise went through multiple starting QBs last season.
The Falcons struggled between Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke. The Raiders went through Jimmy Garoppolo, Aidan O’Connell and Brian Hoyer. The Steelers used Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph.
