According to ESPN, veteran cornerback Emmanuel Moseley is returning to Motown on a one-year deal.

Moseley has dealt with two major injuries the past couple of seasons. In six NFL seasons, he has totaled 162 tackles and four interceptions.

After tearing his ACL in 2022, Moseley spent the 2023 season rehabbing an ACL tear in the other knee.

The soon to be 28-year-old was expected to compete to be the cornerback playing opposite of Cam Sutton last season.

As a result of injuries, the defensive backs unit did not live up to expectations for Aaron Glenn’s defense.

Deshea Townsend was brought to the organization to help improve the play of the defensive backs.

Dre Bly and Brian Duker are no longer with the organization, as the coaching staff added new members on the defensive side of the football.Ex-49ers CB Emmanuel Moseley, Lions agree to one-year contract, agents confirm – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

“When I get in the room, I tell the young guys it’s your job to take the starters’ job, and the starters, it’s your job to hold them off,” Townsend said, via the Detroit Free Press. “And that’s the same way in coaching. You got to make sure you’re doing your best at every opportunity, you have to prove yourself daily and I wouldn’t expect anything different from myself that I expect from them.”
