Five-star small forward prospect Karter Knox has committed to Kentucky, according to college basketball insider Adam Zagoria.
“Coach Calipari, he sends a lot of people to the league and I want to be a pro,” Knox said. “He told me he’s going to make me a pro. I’m ready to hoop and win a national championship.”
He’s ranked as the No. 19 overall player and No. 6 small forward in the 2024 recruiting class, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. Knox received offers from Louisville, Auburn, LSU, and Arkansas before making his decision.
He’s also the younger brother of 24-year-old forward Kevin Knox, who appeared in 31 games for the Detroit Pistons during the 2023-24 season and now plays with the Rip City Remix in the NBA G League. The elder Knox also went to Kentucky, spending his 2017-18 campaign with the Wildcats as a freshman.
It appears that his brother’s history with the program factored into his final decision, as he reminisced about visiting the school prior to his official announcement.
“[The visit] was a great experience,” Knox said, per Travis Branham of 247Sports. “When I was a kid and seeing my brother take pictures, going in on meetings where we had to sit out, it was crazy because now I am doing this stuff. I am the one in the Kentucky uniform taking the pictures and I never really imagined it but all of the work paid off.”
At 6’5″, he’s able to use his size to get to the rim off the dribble and finish through contact while also displaying a budding mid-range game.
Knox is another addition to a strong 2024 recruiting cycle for Kentucky, joining a group that’s headlined by five-star center Jayden Quaintance. The Wildcats currently own the No. 2 recruiting class in the nation behind Duke, according to 247Sports.
