In the weeks after Jerod Mayo succeeded Bill Belichick as the coach of the New England Patriots, Mayo made the media rounds, a notable change from his predecessor.
During one of those, a radio visit with WEEI, Mayo set the table for a busy free agency, one he said would lead to an influx of talent on a Patriots roster in need of it.
“We’re bringing in talent, 1,000 percent,” Mayo said during that January interview with a bit of humor mixed in. “We have a lot of cap space and cash. We’re ready to burn some cash.”
